April 3rd: Library Remains Closed, Free Access to Resources

Franklin Library

In compliance with Gov. Mills’ stay-at-home order and in an effort to help stop any possible spread of the Coronavirus, the Franklin Library will remain closed until further notice.  However, we continue to offer free WiFi, which is accessible from our parking lot and Library grounds (Network=library, no password needed).

In the meantime, here are a few suggestions to keep your mind on better things:

Sign up for free access to a variety of resources on Digital Maine Library https://library.digitalmaine.org/ Use your location (rather than Library ID) as the first level of verification.  This site includes National Geographic Kids, Maine Memory Network and many others.

Research your family history on Ancestry.com; Digital Maine is offering free home computer access to this site during the coronavirus emergency.  Select it from the “all databases” screen or cut-and-paste the direct link below into your browser (if you get bounced out to a password screen, just start over at Digital Maine or use the direct link): https://libraries.maine.edu/mainedatabases/authmaine.asp?db=ancestry

A colleague at the Topsham Public Library has compiled a list of free access websites: https://topshamlibrary.org/stay-at-home-mega-list/

Or simply chill out and watch the waves come in at Pemaquid: http://www.seagullshop.com/surfcam.php
